These scholarships provided by Mainland Regional community to graduating seniors 
Every senior has received an application packet from their homeroom teacher
the week prior to spring break.

In-House Scholarships

Deadline: May 9, 2008


 

1.             John W. Boyd, III Memorial Gift ($500) - Awarded to a student exhibiting leadership qualities, athletic qualities (Varsity Letters), compassion, community activities, extra curricular activities and continuing their education in college or any other post secondary institution.

2.             Class of '62 ($200 bond) - Award to be given to a student with good grades who is involved in school activities but may have been overlooked for other awards. If the student happens to hold down a job outside of school it would be a plus.

3.            Severyn Cleary Social Studies Award ($100 Bond) -  To be awarded to a Northfield Resident not ranked in the top 10 group who receives little recognition.

4.         Foundation for Education ($500) - Somers Point resident who has made measurable improvements in their academic standing over the past four years. A student who has matured, recognized the value of education, and worked hard to be a better student.

5.             Friends of the Linwood Library ($200) - Linwood resident planning to major in Journalism or Literary field.  Very brief essay explaining why this field was chosen..

6.             Richard G. Heller Memorial Scholarship ($500) - To be awarded to a student who is conscientious and hard working.  Must be interested in pursuing a career in education.

7.             Independent Insurance Agents of Atlantic County ($250) - To be awarded to a student in need of funds for college who is pursuing a career in the Computer/Business Education field. Pending.

8.         Madeline C. & Dorothy H. Johnston ($300) -  To be awarded to a senior girl in need of funds for college who is pursuing a career in the Business Education field.

9.        James P. Lavan Memorial Scholarship ($500) -  To be awarded to a student who is a child or grandchild of a current, retired, or deceased employee of the U. S. Postal Service. If there is no one who fits that criteria, then the award will be presented to a niece or nephew of a current, retired, or deceased employee of the U. S. Postal Service.

10.         Mainland Regional Education Association Scholarship (2 @ $300) - To be awarded to students whose parents are Association members. If there are not two candidates, then the scholarship will also be open to any student who intends to enter the field of education.

11.     Mainland Regional Guidance Office Awards (2 @ $100) - Essay of 250 words maximum-"If given $100 for a post secondary program, what would you do?"

12.     MRHS Parents' Organization ($500) - To be awarded to a student in the 11 to 20% class rank group based on leadership, volunteerism and scholarship.

13.         Northfield Cultural Committee Fine Arts Award ($100 Bond) - To be awarded to a Northfield resident who is not in the top 10 who excels in the fine arts, and tries hard but receives little recognition.

14.         Northfield Education Association (2 @ $200 Scholarships) - To be awarded to a Northfield resident. Preference should be given to children of Northfield Education Teacher's Association members.

15.         Ocean City Home Bank ($500) - To be awarded to a senior who is academically successful, has involvement in the community and attending college full time.

16.         Anthony A. Previti Foundation (2 @ $1000) -  To be awarded to a student who has very good grades, but is not in a financial position to afford college tuition.

17.     Woolbert Memorial Scholarship ($500 each year for four years) - To be awarded to a student who is deserving, financially needy with high Academic Performance.
