ADVANCED PLACEMENT TESTING INFORMATION
 

 

1. Advanced Placement Tests or the A. P. Tests. are administered by the Collegeboard.
    The tests are given by Mainland Regional the first two weeks of May.

2. Students enrolled in an AP course must take the AP Test at a cost of $77.00 per test.

3. Checks are made payable to Mainland Regional High School Board of Education.

4. Students score between 1 - 5.

5. Most colleges will give credit for scores between 3 - 5.
    The selective colleges want a 4 - 5.

6. These tests permit a student to skip a semester or two in college depending on how
     many AP classes they take. Some selective colleges do not allow a student to skip
     a semester.

7. They can also allow a student to major in another field of study since a student has
     already received some college credit. They also allow a student to take courses at the
     next higher challenging level.
