Ten Year History of the Shootout
This Shootout started as a
combination fund raiser and plan to get some additional quality games
on the schedule. It has evolved into a showcase for the best coaches,
players, and teams in the East. It is so gratifying to see this multi-day
basketball event grow to what it is today. This is an unique event at
Mainland with coaches, parents, and players dedicating themselves to putting
together the best possible series of games ever at the Shootout. The teams
that are going to be playing at Mainland this weekend represent the best
in local, regional and eastern women's high school basketball.
I just wanted to take this
opportunity to thank all the organizations and individuals who played
a part in the tenth Future Stars Basketball Camps Shootout at the Shore.
The Future Stars Basketball Camps, led by Cathy and Michael Rush, have
always looked for ways to put girls basketball into the spotlight and
this weekend is another example of that. To all our local sponsors and
participating schools thank you for being a part of this. A special thanks
to my basketball parents for helping out with tickets, security, concessions,
money, ideas and their time. Various staff and administration especially
Athletic Director George Evinski, and Communications Coordinator Chuck
Smith, have been great in their support and volunteering their time.
