November Students of the Month

Freshman

Dimitri Arhontoulis (nominated by Ms. Patti McLaughlin)

Dimitri deserves to be student of the month because of his work ethic, quality of work, courteous behavior, and participation in Book Club. His work is always of the highest quality and he cares so much that he will always be the student to ask for clarification and confirmation. he is polite in all situations, whether greeting me good morning or speaking to classmates, as well as staff, with respect. He is one of a handful of boys to join the Book Club and bring a new male perspective. Dimitri is a gentleman and a great student

Sophomore

Megan Walsh (Nominated by Ms. Lavery)

Megan transferred here from Atlantic Christian School this year and has adjusted very well to the change. She always does her work and when she needs help or has questions she always asks. Her current average in chemistry is a 99. She follows directions in the lab without question and never has to be reminded to put goggles on or to follow proper lab procedures. Megan works well with others and is willing to help students in cooperative learning settings on a daily basis. She is always respectful and is an example to others in the classroom and hallways at Mainland. Please consider Megan Walsh for this honor.

Rebecca Margolis

The Special Services School District has recognized Rebecca Marigolds for her participation as a classroom volunteer in our summer program, Project Youth at our Mays Landing Campus.  The purpose of this project is to provide an opportunity for students to interact, explore and experience life with disable individuals.  The program helps students develop a better understanding of the disabled child by becoming sensitive to the challenges they face.

Rebecca's performance as a "helper" in the classroom was outstanding.  Throughout the daily instructional and recreational activities  of the summer program,  Rebecca related well to the children and was a true asset to the teacher and the program.

Junior

C  (nominated by Mr. Martin)

C  is an 11th grader in my resource room integrated math class. The school started a new section of integrated Math for inclass support. I believed C  might benefit from this class. I asked him if he would like to move, and his answer was that he thought being the oldest child in class that he could help others in the learning process. Much of our class is done in group so his influence is invaluable in my class. C  has shown true leadership in this class and it would be nice to see this recognized.

Senior

Jonathan De La Cruz (nominated by Ms. Off and Mr. Capasso)

Jon is in 12th grade. He is a very conscientious, studious young man. He takes his work seriously both in the classroom and while working at the Snack-Attack after school.

He has really worked hard on his customer relations skills. He is also working hard to improve his skill in calculating and counting the correct change when presented with large denomination bills. He never gives up.
