Congratulations to the November Student's of the Month
Freshman
Shaun Laboy

Nominated by Ms. Watson
He is a 9th grade student in my cultural diversity class. He is always attentive and respectful. He truly values education and has a desire to learn. He has adjusted well to MRHS, academically and socially. He is a student-athlete, as a member on the frosh football team. He is a versatile individual, as he also has a desire to participate in the school theatre productions. I would love to see Shaune earn this award, as he would represent it well and be fully grateful |
Sophomore
Kate Driscoll

Nominated by Ms. Cindy Anderson
Kate is an awesome student to have in your class. She works hard, is pleasant to be around, helpful, and respectful to both teachers as well as peers. She is involved with many activities here at MRHS. She also truly wants to help and make Mainland a better school. She is always striving to do more be better, and help others. Kate is a great example of what a Mainland student should be. |
Junior
Kerry Brady
Nominated by Ms. Colombo
I met Kerry the beginning of her freshman year, and I have been impressed with how she has grown over the past years. In class as a freshman, she was always able to make me laugh. She always brought a unique and bright perspective to what we were learning. As a junior, she is one of our freshman mentors, and she has already begun to stand out. She entered summer training with an impressive enthusiasm, and her passion hasn't waned. Early on, she encountered a difficult issue and was able to handle it maturely. She is the perfect example what a mentor should be. |
Senior
Crystal Simon

Nominated by Ms. Carney
I have Crystal in my writing class this year but I have known her since she transferred here in 10th grade. Crystal is now in 12th grade and has overcome many hardships and obstacles both academically and personally. I have a new students to this school in my writing class who truly needed a mentor. Crystal jumped at the opportunity to give back and mentor this young lady. Crystal has truly made a difference in this student’s life and in just a few short weeks. Crystal is now in the process of applying to college and wants to become a teacher. |

The Mainland Mock Trial Team competed in the Empire City Invitational Tournament from Friday, Oct. 16 to Sunday, Oct. 18. Elite mock trial teams from across this country as well as some international teams participated in the competition. Mainland placed as one of the top two teams in the tournament, allowing us to compete in the final round. Unfortunately, Mainland lost to a team from Ireland. However, the team did amazingly well and should be commended for their hard work. Holly Pimpinelli also received an individual award for “Outstanding Witness”.
