Team information/FAQ's

As a member of our women's team you will learn a lot about the importance of our "Team First" mentality and committing to being a great teammate.  In addition to the tremendous personal growth, you will improve your physical strength, cardiovascular conditioning, mental toughness, and self confidence.  Our team atmosphere will help you develop all of these qualities that are essential building blocks required to be successful throughout life.
Yes, athletes can do other sports in the fall and or winter.  In the fall, crew is a club team.  Practices typically start the last week of September and ends the first weekend in November.  Winter crew is considered a sport and runs the same length as all other winter sports.  If athletes are not doing a winter sport and intend to row the main season of spring, it is in their best interest to get the strength training and cardiovascular conditioning so they are prepared for the spring season.  We have had rowers only do spring season and some others do all three seasons of rowing.  Doing other sports for a well rounded student athlete experience is encouraged but not expected.  It is important that the student athlete does what is best for them.
Yes, athletes can join at any grade level.  There is a novice program to teach you how to row.  It is not uncommon for athletes to pick up the sport quickly and make it into top varsity boats their first year on the team.  Many girls have joined in upper grades without rowing experience, excelled at the sport, and have gone on to receive athletic scholarships for rowing.
