Peers in Transition
connects disabled students with non-disabled peers in after-school/leisure activities associated with Mainland. (Non-disabled upperclassmen would be solicited from elective classes and trained prior to taking on a mentor role.) This exchange will be beneficial for both students who take on a mentor responsibility and to those benefiting from the successful social interactions with others all in accordance with N.J. State curriculum.
During this time the students will participate in playing games together online such as; Kahoot, Sprokle, Bingo, and a variety of others. Students will work on their communication and interpersonal skills. Students will bond with their peers and create friendships with each other while remaining socially distant.
